Matt Hinkley

Born and raised in West Texas, Matt is a hybrid musician in the truest sense of the word. Matt specializes on both guitar and piano but also plays mandolin, banjo, tenor banjo, ukulele, electric bass, and enough drums and accordion to stay above water. As a music director, an orchestrator and arranger, a sideman, a copyist, or a songwriter and performer, Matt has carved out a unique role in the NYC music and theater scene.  From singing Billy Idol songs on a coffee table in Scooby-Doo underwear, to fronting rock and punk bands in school, to working for several years as an actor, to writing his own music and now being fortunate enough to lend his talents to others, Matt continues to find creative ways to incorporate both music and theater into his professional life.

Matt earned a degree in Vocal Performance/Music Theater from NYU, but while he has spent half his life in various aspects of theater, it was only several years ago that he decided to go back to his roots and focus on being a musician. His experience with voice and his time on the "other side of the table," coupled with years of playing, enable him to work comfortably in a variety of roles on a variety of projects at any stage of development.

Matt lives in Manhattan with his wife Kymberly, their beautiful daughter Madeline, and their cats Brutus and Dexter.
